"Today only" less than 1% cheaper?

Just checked out the Today Only page and was pleased to see that you have the Intel E8500 and the Corsair memory I'm planning to buy. Excellent. I'll dip into my overdraft and get it today and save some money I thought.

That is until I compared the prices on the normal page and found that the Today Only price for the E8500 is actually discounted by a whole 74p and the memory is down by 76p. I'd pay more in interest on my overdraft than I'd save.

Just what is the point of having a discount section with that level of discount? Seems a bit pointless to me.

    Rather disappointed to be honest.

they can't give the stuff away. A bit of profit needs to be made even if though they do have a £50m turnover.

That's perfectly fine. I understand they have to make a profit and I don't begrudge them that but it does seem silly to put things on the Today only page which they can't really discount.

Unfortunately it is not possible to discount below cost.

With respect that isn't the point. If there's no room for a discount that's fine. But why put it on the discounts page in the first place?

Re: "Today only" less than 1% cheaper?

Or the realtime price on those items has changed since the TodayOnly price was decided.

The price of many items on Scan is based purely on the buying price plus percentage markup. Their system is also linked to their supplier, so the supplier updates the price and the retail price changes automatically. This has caused TodayOnly prices to actually be higher than the normal price because it is a fixed value decided by "the man who can" (and his team).

In this case, our margin for the E8500 is already very low and already VERY competitive so giving an extra discount even though in this case very small should be appreciated

We have many items on Today Only, offered at much greater reductions.

It’s odd we don't hear complaints about the FREE DELIVERY and the many other great offers we give our Customer’s :/

Fair is fair, appreciate the great service we provide, FREE Delivery and in most cases we have cost leadership over competitors before Today Only offers and created.

    Regards
