Forget the worst speed, it's also depressing that an average of 77Mbps is the very pinnacle of connection speed outside of cities. Is there no lucky village somewhere that's been connected up to FTTH as an experiment? Or that's got fed up with BT and shared a leased line out between themselves?

Ricky gets the highest?
Knackers... I actually used to live there!!!
Darn it, why did I move to where the speed is sub-1Mbps.....? Oh, that's right, I got married... Knackers!!!
Interesting that, even in Ricky, the difference between lowest and average is massive. I'm guessing it's more Ricky centre and toward Batchworth/Loudwater that has the high stuff and Mill End gets the naff-all...
Superfast Cornwall! I have FTTH from BT @ 75Mbps, you can get 300 but at £50 a month, which is more than I wand to spend tbh.
They make a big deal of pushing fibre connectivity in the Southwest but I don't see a single town on these lists (OK there was Somerset but that's still more inland that Cornwall/Devon).
Life is like a hair on a toilet seat. Sooner or later you're bound to get pissed off!
Crappiest internet provider? Sky in Cheshire. Contract is for 16 and I'm getting 4 ish... Ridiculous...
technically, I should be on the highest speed in the country.
One of the main Hibernia transatlantic cables for the UK connects 1 mile away from my house. surely this area should be on the fastest internet, because that's where the rest of the country connects to. (by my basic networking knowledge anyhow).
minimum around here should be 1Gb at least.
I live in a TINY little village in Bedfordshire and I get 40 (up to 80 i f I want)
I feel sorry for those that have under 2Mbps. That's horrible.
I live in Hull on KC Lightstream - fibre connection, 90Mbps down and 16Mbps up...
I moved away from these areas but was told about this by a friend - http://avbroadband.co.uk/ (he's on 300Mbs - down AND up - over £100 a month but you can get 100Mbs both ways for far much less).
Fully fibre optic so it can be upgraded more easily in the future - it's a small ISP so perhaps that's one way rural communities can get higher speed by going with something like that ISP.
I care very much about upload speed since I work from home (and also being deaf - video call quality matters very much) - At moment at home I get:
$ speedtest
Retrieving speedtest.net configuration...
Retrieving speedtest.net server list...
Testing from BT (some ip address)...
Selecting best server based on latency...
Hosted by Bytemark Hosting (York) [30.57 km]: 24.202 ms
Testing download speed........................................
Download: 67.92 Mbit/s
Testing upload speed..................................................
Upload: 17.15 Mbit/s
Yes the ISP is BT and shockingly enough they have given me no problem in the 4 years I've been with them.
