Just thought I'd put up a quick little post about a little item I purchased last week

I've been upgrading my Internals and am a proud owner of an AM2 board which is great apart from a low number of IDE channells ( IE 1)

Not wanting to throw my perfectly good IDE drives away I invested in one of these.

half the price of any external enclosures and I can add extra drives or even another optical drive for zero hassle !

I've always been meaning to get 1 of these as they are handy for checking what's on old drives and also file transfers.

for a under a tenner you can't go wrong - definatly one of those things to add on if you need to bump your basket up to qualify for free delivery !

I'd almost be tempted to get another one if I could find some form of y plug to run two from the same power feed.

How do these get power? is there a mains power brick, or does it come from an internal molex?

Mains Brick - goes into the unit and they then have a molex on a fly lead to connect to the drive.

comes with an adaptor to fit laptop hd's too !

Not the best solution - granted but it's still sort of a semi-portable drive

bought one of these outta maplin last year.

its good because u dont just need to use hard drives, i used to use it when all the drive bays were taken on my media pc, to attach up a dvd-drive to install stuff from classy!

They come with an adaptor for laptop drives trig

Very good and handy, although if I have it attached and switched my Ultra-D hangs at POST.

There is a very similar SATA model which is also handy
