Found this in someones sig:
"Intel C2D E6600 w/Scythe Infinity | Gigabyte DQ6 | Kingston 512x2MB DDR2 533 | XFX 7800GT w/VF700AlCu LED..."
So that's that
ye there is suprisingly a lot of space for a CPU cooler in this motherboard, just a quick warning, the bios is a bit shaky atm. Not unstable but overclocking beyond 3Ghz is a little hard without throttling the RAM, this is an issue with gigabyte are working to fix
Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.2Ghz (400Mhzx8) 1.52V (set in bios, 1.47v real) | 4GB GeIL PC6400 4-4-4-12 | Gigabyte DQ6 @ 1600Mhz | HD2900XT 1GB | Enermax Infiniti 720W | Silverstone TJ07-B with custom watercooling | BenQ FP241WZ
3dmark05 - 13140 | 3dmark06 - 6698 | SuperPi 1M - 15s
What do you mean by throttling the RAM? (slower settings?). My RAM's rated at 667 and is struggling on anything over a 350fsb...just figured out the ctrl+f1 at main BIOS screen to enable all the DRAM control bits in F3. So guess the one to look out for would be F4?
I'm doing 390*9 (Same proc as u) and it's stable for compiling but if I run any prime it craps it 's self...
yeah I have the same issue :S, my RAM is doing the same thing as yours basically. I think in the xtremesystems forum they are talking about bios updates fixing it, they're on beta F4e or something like that but its not entirely stable. I can wait , it just means running my RAM at near stock speeds.

How do you plan on flashing your BIOS? Set proc to stock frequency, and do it thru windows?....feels risky tbh...
ye i agree, I am really concerned about the stability issues. I was going to put it on a floppy, and then flash through the dual bios menu thingy . At stock everything of course, except memory voltages.

I'm going to search for the latest beta bios, I'll post it here in case you are interested. EDIT- LOL I see a lot fo angry people that the lesser cheaper motherboards are receiving more support...

Hey mate, I found a good bios (one where the memory doesn't crap out) http://www.jzelectronic.de/jz2/Download2/965pdq6f4d.exeOriginally Posted by bsodmike
It is beta bios f4d, I can probably start going a bit higher on the CPU now. But I will wait a bit until they fix the DDR18V fail over +0.400v overvolt. I have this installed and SP2004/Orthos does not fail in the same place everytime and so far has managed to be stable for an hour and 20mintues which was unheard of before.

um...a floppy? heh...why oh why must the whole industry advance so much and still rely on floppies! pffft!
yeah thats why I still have one . And tbh CDs are nowhere near as good in terms of being able to put data on, and taking it off. Albeit not as much data

usb key anyone?

can you make a usb key bootable tho?
I plonked in my XP install DVD and the boot menu had the option of loading a win '98 boot floppy....there I am left at A: right? So I try getting to C:.....and I'm like 'wtf!'
I was looking at the contents of my SD card which was plugged in via USB :-o So seems like I have an easy way of flashing now when needed!
