AW(D-MAX Wifi...Not working!!! Help please Sean

    As post says.
The card is in and recognised.
The drivers loaded (running 64 Bit Vista Ultimate).
Its recognised in Device Manager although there is a yellow ! there next to it.

When i try to launch the wireless it tells me it cannot recognize the card (which Device Manager does) and that the drivers are not correctly installed or they are corrupted.

Sorry but this thread is a duplicate from the Scan section. I just thought this may be a better place to ask.
(all suggestions already tried and failed).

Everthing is recognised so its a set up thing. I just cant see where im going wrong

    Board - AW9D-MAX
    Bios - 13
    Wifi - Airpace

    Cheers for the help.

I will run some tests to find the solution. I beleive it should be simple to fix.

I have installed vista, installed all the drivers and it works ok.

You must have something different to my setup thats causing the problem?

What does the device manager say the problem is?

it just says the driver is corrupt or missing. ??? So the Wifi card seems fine.
I have used the disk provided and a link that was provided by Buff aswell to your FTP.

Does it actually make any difference if you install the card before the driver?

Also, can i still install it if my router is still connected via the Ethernet cable (then obviously unattach after installation)

I do have 1 more idea though.
I am running an 8800GTS and it is covering up the No.1 little PCI-e slot so it has to go into the number 2 slot.
Can this be switched in the bios anywhere so it seeks the no.2 slot?
This is the only thing i can think of now.

Remove the card and uninstall the software.

Re download the drivers from the following and try again.

Its not working and im getting bloody annoyed!
I tried all the suggestions and still not recognising the card (even though device manager says it does).

I firmly believe this is a Vista 64 bit problem tbh.

Well...i have found out what the problem was.

    Its ABIT!!!

How on earth can you justify releasing a board that is supposedly 'Vista Ready' when the drivers (Wifi) aren't digitally signed. Everyone knows that Vista 64 bit doesnt like unsigned drivers.

I dont want to have to hit F8 every time i want to use my interent....

For near on £150 i wouldve thought that the someone in Taiwan or whevever they are may have dragged themselves outta bed and made a signed driver.

    THIS IS VERY POOR!!!!

Instead of creating 'Fatality this' and 'Fatality that', maybe ABIT need to sort out their current range first, because for leading edge technology, it really is flaky sometimes.

Sorry Sean...i know its not your fault personally....but you represent this company and for that price it really isnt good enough tbph!

To my knowledge I believed that the drivers are digitally signed. I had no problems today when I installed the card on the test bench.

Its a little confusing. I will check with head office tomorrow.

    Blitzen the woes carry on.
On every install I have done with wireless cards install the software first, shut down install the hardware then boot up. Vista should see the drivers and install.
If you have already done this my apologies but I couldnt determine whether you had from the replies.

    Was that with Vista 64Bit?

I did try that but no joy.

The ONLY way i could get the Wifi running was to hit F8 at post and disable driver signature authentication.
    All worked well then.
Im sure you would agree though, its not the best solution

The driver is digital signed. Please can you check the properties in the device manager.

Should be driver version - 1.0.116.20

Hmmmm...very weird. My device is saying the same as yours so thats not the problem.
If you look on the net (even on your USA forums @ ABIT), others are having the same issue.
The F8 solution is how they got around the problem but its a pain on each boot up and the router im linking to is in another room.
As you know, the F8 solution switches off the search for the digital signature so thats why i assumed it wasnt signed.

Can you think of any other way around the problem please?

On a good note, when it does connect (using F8)the signal is EXTREMELY good and that impressive.

If i can get over this problem then i will be incredibly happy with this board

Blitzen did you install the drivers from the Abit disk first time around. I found this discussion over on the Abit USA forums. A similar issue in that they installeed the drivers from the disk then downloaded the Vista release driver but still had to F8 during start up.
However I would have thought by now that the current disks being supplied would be with the Vista drivers.

It may help it may not but have a read and see what you think.

This guy had the same problem trying to find the reg entries.

Difficult for me to help any further as I am not running Vista.
