Quad GT mosfet cooling.

Right the one question that I cant answer yet, if we use an after market northbridge cooler what the hell are we supposed to put on the mosfets as I'm currently using some swiftech MC14 ram sinks and the pwm's are idle at 60c and load at 70-75c (with a 60mm fan blowing on them) and we've just started with the summer heat so there going to get pretty toasty, now the other solution is the thermalright hr-09 but that requires some modding as its designed for asus and gigabyte boards, so is there anychance somebody at abit can find this part as I know people have them as I would give both arms and legs and buy every share that abit has for it and I'm not taking the no we dont have them for an answer and cost aint an issue. (and Im not cutting/bending the stock cooling untill my warranty runs out)

Have a look in your old bits box and see if you have a ThermalTake Volcano 7+ CPU heatsink hanging around.

Sadly I dont have one of those lying about but give me a couple of days and I will. Now how easy is it to modify with just a dremel is it just a case of measuring the original and copying it

Edit: Agent if I do mangge to make one I'll make another out of the other half and send it to you free of charge if you want I'll let you know if it turns up.

I emailed ThermalRight Tech Support last week asking if I could use the HR-05 OK for the Northbridge and HR-09 on the PWM /MOSFETs on my QuadGT (as it is not in their published compatible MB list) and they responded that "the HR-09's are NOT Abit compatible".....

Abit need to come up with better cooling solutions or reduce the heat somehow when under high fsb, the all in one otes cooling pipe isnt very overclocking friendly espeically when it comes to watercooling, if you damage the pipe you end up voiding your warranty which is a shame.

As much as I love Abit boards I ended up purchasing an alernative product that doesnt have those problems under high overclocks.

thing is that it's designed for those high temps so it's OK as far as the hardware is concerned.
& you can always increase airflow over it.

As much as I love Abit boards I ended up purchasing an alernative product that doesnt have those problems under high overclocks.

I would imagine that any PWM section having ~130A drawn through it (an overclocked quad) is going to get reasonably warm ...

Yep but that doesnt fit apparently anyhow I've got one of those heatsinks richh has got so I'll butcher one of those but I've also found a water block which I've got coming my way as I've bumped up my core voltage to 1.44v and the pwm idle at 60c and load at 80c with a 450fsb I will go higher

Can't give you a price atm. It won't be expensive but they're only in G1/8 so far.
Will get some pics together next week after the bank hols
