    Smile AW9D-MAX help and chat

I have recently installed this board in my 'new' station and apart from confusion last night with the 2A 'POST' message (which i love how it actually has a lil screen to tell ya) I think it is the best £130 spent in a long while.

This is however the first highend motherboard i have ever brought (money reasons) and I am only slowly getting used to the features and quirks of this board.

As my profile lists my H/W it doesnt state the OS which is Vista Home Premium.

    I would like to set this thread up to be a one shot home for owners of the board as i have spent a while searching through the net and has taken a while to find the things i was looking for;

    • the 2A hang on post can be fixed with bios 15 update (downloaded and going to install when i get home)

    also

    • I still cant get the WiFi card to install in vista
    • i cant get the mobo to pick up the second RAM chip

what CPU temp are most of you getting and what do you have your CPU fan speed set at.

    Cheers

GOOD for you! I have this board, one of many! IT is an excellent board and overclocks like crazy. 4.02 gigs is dooable on a e6600 and thats with BUDGEt ram. I WAS using water cooling on this board (was as the board is now back in its box underneath my desk, as i have upgraded)

Have tried the updated drivers on the abit forums for the wifi card?

Funny thing abouyt your ram is that i had the exact same RAM, DDR 2 667 at 5-5-5-15, with abit of know how, i got it to run at 4-4-4-12 and with a fsb 424 on a e6600

temps i got no my cpu where about 28 to 30 on idle and 33-34 on full load= delta of 4-5 degrees.

Do you still have the problem recognising your 2nd stick of ram?

    Second that.
Its a very good board, considering the 975x is "old hat".

I ran Dominator c4d 444 12 no problem and no issues picking up the second stick. This is on BIOS 1.3.

As Gilgamesh has pointed out updating the WiFi drivers is essential as there were problems with the Pace card initially.

Altogether a very solid board easy to work with.

Using QuadGT atm but the Max board is going to be put back into use end of this month with a E6600. Looking forward to using it again.

Hello, this is the first time on here so sorry for any incorrect protocol.

I have just bought a AW9DMAX to make up a system and had some problems; I have sorted it out and would like to let you all know about it.

    Using a 2.4G Intel core2duo with 2G corsair ram.

Would boot to BIOS setup, saying CMOS checksum error, if I tried to make BIOS changes and F10 to exit, machine would not reboot and POST stuck at 6F.

I also noticed that when I rebooted, any BIOS changes had not been saved and that the CMOS clock had not been updated whilst powered off.

Looking at the forums there seems to have been losts of recommendations to clear CMOS and take out battery etc etc to no avail.

But more by luck than management, I was in the Standard CMOS setup screen where the time and date are shown, and I was altering the state of the CMOS clear jumper, when I touched the jumper the seconds started moving and when I took my finger off the jumper they stopped.

I simply replaced the jumper and everything works OK now.

    Such a little thing.

LOL you found the weak spot, the cmos jumper was kinda loose so it could set in the clear cmos by not properly connecting.

    Well pointed out.

am still having problems with the ram, i am going to try changing the voltage in a min to 1.8v as i have just looked up the spec on the site where i purchased it.

other problem is that upon boot it states that the cpu is unworkable, but boots fine and runs fine in vista

    any suggestions ppl

also forgot to mention on the orignal post that i am running x64

    cheers

does it just say unworkable or "unworkable or has been changed"?
Presumably you are F1ing to get past this, try going into the BIOS & setting optimised defaults, saving & exiting.

Got it working now the CPU settings had been changed, set it to default and saved, ill is fine now.

On the original note i am getting problems still with both the wireless and ram

the wireless; i have installed the latest drivers, from the abit site (wifi_v1011620) the name in devicemanager is network controller or something (driver details all say unknown)

    so i install the driver on the cd all the driver details are correct but the status window says;

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

    any ideas

Dont have this myself but I trawled through the USA Abit forums and found similar issues with some solutions hopefully one of these will work.

By the looks of it you may have residual reg entries which you will have to delete manually.

    Hope this helps

Oh second post bloke was getting exactly the same error as you are reporting.

This was also my only gripe with this board aswell.

The Wifi is shat......and the updated drivers for 64bit Vista didnt help one bit.

I think the only way to get the Wifi to work is frsh install the ~OS.

    Poor dont you agree?
