PLease dont tell me ive killed my bios

After my last thread i was advised to update my bios, so i took the flash menu of the CD and update with the latest bios just as i have always done on my AW9D-MAX

After rebooting the system will not respond and i dont even see it posting...

dead bios? great advice from Abit :/

None, it first gave me some checksum error so i cleared the cmos now im not getting any video from the on board.

Ive read on the US site that this is a common problem with this board, im just about to attempt a silent bios flash.

I meant the 2 digit LED post display on the motherboard. If it has stopped at code 9.0. then the bios maybe corrupted but if you have seen the message bios checksum error then thats normal after a bios flash.

Sorry I read the first post and saw AW9D max and assumed we was talking about that.

How did you flash the bios? Was it done in windows using flash menu or in DOS?

windows with flash menu, as i said in the first post i used the copy on the disk that came with the motherboard.

which i have now found out is out of date and causes errors with the beta bios

If you can't get the motherboard to post over the weekend then PM me your address and I will sort you a new bios chip.

thank you saun you seem to have been having to do a lot of this lately.

Tell me should the 12 bios be ok?? i added my PCIe card from another machine into the board but still got no response from it.

How simple is it to replace the bios chip? thats one thing i have never had to do!

Its a simple job to do, ideally you need to use a PLCC extractor tool.

Would seem im getting a little futher, got the board booting and displaying with my 8800 in it now, but i cant get it too re-flash from the floppy disk.

It gets to the flash utility but hangs flashing "please wait!" and never moves on from that.

I would just like to publicly thank ABIT Sean for all his help with this problem, i hope once the new bios arrives that i will be able to get everything back up and running again.

If Vista dont work straight away, then its back to XP for me!
