AW9D-MAX ..... SLI Bridge but Crossifre Mobo

Can anyone tell me why a SLI bridge is included with this motherboard when its a Crossfire board?
This doesn't make alot of sense unless ABIT:
    a). Know something we dont
    b). Made mistakes when shipping
c). Plan to support SLi (if so...when?)

Any answers, especially from ABit would be appreciated.

Unfortunately Hexus don't like that domain

Basically mobos are Crossfire/SLI agnostic as PCI-E slots are PCI-E slots etc. - the magic is all in the gfx drivers.
So, you can run either Crossfire or SLI with appropriate gfx drivers.
The nVidia SLI driver checks for the presence of an nVidia chipset before enabling & there was a hacked 80 series driver (so no 8xxxs) available that removed that allowing you to run SLI.

Re: AW9D-MAX ..... SLI Bridge but Crossifre Mobo

In the unlikely event nvidia unlock SLI for all cards on Intel 975X chipset you might thank Abit for including the bridge, it use to be difficult to get a bridge seperately that fits the distance between PCI-E slots on specific motherboard. Not sure if most cards include them now though, perhaps.

Either way, it isn't a mistake on Abit part, it was intentionally included.
