Sensors read 85C for my e6320 (no OC)

well ive just bought a new chip and motherboard seems to be working perfect, until i noticed the bios temps they read 80C and speedfan says both cores are at 85C could it be faulty sensors, ive reapplied thermal stuff from zelman (thats all i had laying around) what should i do, is it a bios issue, i cant update my bios since none of my floppy drives seem to work goddammit!

any help would be great guys!

What cooler are you using? If it uses reference pushpins are you *sure* that they are on properly? Is the heatsink warm to touch? (may be hot so don't grab it)

Have you had a look to see if any of the BIOS updates available list "fixed CPU temp reading" or something like that?

I'd also check temps with CoreTemp.

Otherwise it seems most likely that the heatsink is not seated correctly.

I can't I'm afraid as I use a cooler with reference pushpins (Akasa 965) and apart from the stock cooler haven't used any others.

This may be of interest (Hexus LGA775 cooler mega test, 1st June 2007):

And there are many more cooler reviews at http://www.frostytech.com/

Your welcome Btw, one last thing, it does mention it in those articles but if you go for a big CPU cooler make sure you check clearance (usually of the northbridge and mosfet heatsinks) on your motherboard (and if it is very tall cooler that it won't hit the side panel of your case) before you buy.
