    IP35-Pro added disks, now freezing...

    Hello,

Set up my new PC a couple of weeks ago with a new IP35-Pro, corsair 6400 c5 (2x1gb) and an E6750. I didn't bother re-installing windows, I took the raptor from my previous PC and put it straight in, removing the old drivers and updating with the new ones for this board. All was running well until I added my other five disks today (4xsata, 1xIDE) and now I am getting constant freezing problems when transferring large files between disks or running a number of applications at once. I'm hoping it's not a problem with the PSU as it's a 580W Hiper Type-r. Anyone got any ideas? Re-install of windows?

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks...

what type of system was the OS installed on?
What OS is it (Tom's Hardware claims that there is a problem with Raptors/Vista when using nVidia gfx cards & have stopped using them)?

If you are concerned about the Hiper you could always have a look at the voltages with uGuru. They aren't 100% reliable but if they are much lower than the spec and drops match the freezing it could be an indicator.

I wouldn't have thought an extra 5 disks would push your PSU over the edge but... if it was close to begin with that isn't a load to shrug off.

    I'm on XP pro

I should have also mentioned that I have OC'd the CPU up to 3ghz on air without increasing the voltage, all was stable until today (the extra disks being the only change).

What mode is the JMicron showing as in?
If you disable it does the problem go away?

mate its more than likely your psu.

if you think e6750 (depending on voltage) oced at 3 gigs =aroun 110-20 watts 4x sata 30 watts each= 120 watts total etc etc

I used to have the TYPE R hyper psu. I t was great for older boards, but doesnt cut the mustard now for newer type boards.

Note on installing THE IP35 PRO, Make sure you have re-install of the OS as there have been reports of problems with the P35 board if the OS has not been re-installed.

Re: IP35-Pro added disks, now freezing...

Thanks for that, I'll try for a reinstall and see if that helps.

What's the Corsair HX Series 620W like? I notice that you have one, would this make a big difference or do you think something with a bit more power still?

    Thanks again.
