I have been trying to find a solution for this forever now, i'm on the verge of a breakdown i think!!!
I have coped up until now, but with my new iPods on the way + new dSLR, i really need fast USB now.
I can't get my USB working at USB 2.0 speeds with my AN8 Ultra based XP Home (SP2) system. Whenever i plug a USB device into my PC, i get the message "there are no hi-speed usb host controllers...", everything runs at super slow USB 1.0. I have 4 ports at the rear, 2 top f the case and 1 front for the case.
Here is what i have done so far - updated to the latest BIOS. Tried to update the drivers, but Windows would not accept there are any better ones. Tried installing the USB 2.0 driver from the CD that came with my AN8 - yet nothings seems to really change and a readme.txt contained in the drivers folder says "U2v2_2_2.exe --> Only support NF8/ NF8-V", so i am not even sure it for my mobo, even though its the only one that came in the box. Abit's site does not even offer a USB 2.0 driver for download.
What confuses me the most is that device manager has 2 entries for USB and one indicated that USB 2.0 is pressent and working...
- Universal serial bus controllers
¬
Standard openHCD USB Host controller
USB Mass storage device
USB Mass storage device
USB root hub
- Universal serial bus controllers
¬
PCI Class USB 2.0 Enhanced host controller
USB Root hub device
So what the heck do i do now?
