    memory errors after bios update

After updating my bios to aw9d15 i started getting randow Bsod's, everytime i loaded crysis multiplayer beta it would either restart my pc or Bsod, also other programs and windows components are randomly failing. I reformatted and reinstalled windows but Im still getting the same problems and certain programs are reporting memory errors - please can anyone help?

Did the BIOS flash complete 100%?

Have you checked that the voltage/timings/frequency of your memory has not been set incorrectly? I assume you cleared CMOS after the flash? Bios 15 uses different defaults to previous.

I had a problem where the flash (floppy) went to a blank screen at 70% and I had no choice but to restart out of it. It appeared to work after that but I kept getting blue screens on starting up on the PC (random, not always), so I re-flashed with 15 (this time it completed instead of black screening at 70%) and no more problems. In both cases I added the switch to instruct the flash not to overwrite the boot block, I'd suggest you do that too.

Are you sure the memory was functioning before the BIOS flash? You didn't flash cos the PC was unstable? If the memory is reporting faulty in memtest/windiag is it possible it was always faulty but you didn't notice until you started using the PC more?

Re: memory errors after bios update

    thanks for the rapid responses!

    system specs :-

    aw9d-max
    e6600
    2x1gig 5-5-5-15 ram
    x1950xtx
    motu 2408

im thinking my ram might of died - ive ran memtest and straight away it starts throwing up errors.......ive checked the settings in the bios and everything seems right (most things on auto settings)
machine is roughly a year old and everthing was running sweet till the bios update (i used the windows update program and everything went well, 100% complete)

Re: memory errors after bios update

If the memory voltage or timings have been configured incorrectly (automatic setting does not guarantee!) then you will still get memtest errors. I'd make 100% sure that the memory is set to an appropriate voltage (many performance memory modules will not run happily at the default voltage).
