    Problems installing realtek

This flaming onboard sound is driving me flipping nuts, I cannot get the realtek to install.
Well, the installer runs ok, but theres no audio!

How do you install it and get it to work?
I have an HDMI header on my gfx card as well, but installing the HD audio doesn't work either.

I have two unknown pci devices in my hardware list.
The Microsoft UCCA driver or whatever it is hasn't appeared either in my list.

This is a brand new install of windows as a previous one was wrecked by altering registry settings to remove ATI software.

Why oh why can't the installer for the gfx and sound install like other hardware??!!

    Re: Problems installing realtek

might help to say what mobo?
if it's due to the MS UAA driver it's a known problem across many mobos from many manufacturers.
The easiest way normally is to install the Realtek drivers before doing all your XP updates.

    Re: Problems installing realtek

sorry! Its on my IP35 Pro.

    Using the realtek 183 driver.
On my previous install there was the UCCA driver, installing this automatically would crash the PC, but it would go in on reboot.

    Thanks for reply.
All xp updates are done now!

    Re: Problems installing realtek

think that we are upto at least 1.86 now for Realtek HD drivers.
Not sure if it helps with your problem though.

    Re: Problems installing realtek

is there any setting in the BIOS to enable the onboard HD audio?
i'm guessing it's onboard with it being realtek..
i had this problem with an old MSI P31 Neo-F i had, found out that the sound was disabled in the BIOS..

    Re: Problems installing realtek

Its enabled in BIOS - FP audio - HD

    There's no control panel, nothing.
I'm sure its to do with my gfx card install.
Its weird that there's no UAA drivers!!

Thanks for rplies, keep them ideas coming. I'm quite frustrated.
I've never had any joy with onboard sound installs!

    Re: Problems installing realtek

have you ever had the onboard audio working on this board? or have you just built the PC and can't get it working?
    it is very annoying!
and with mine it took me ages, 3XP installs and 2 Vista.. :S

then in the BIOS it says 'HD audio - Disabled'

    Re: Problems installing realtek

Yep had it working on previous install.
Ok - right clicked on one of the PCI problem devices and updated driver automatically.
It has picked up the UAA stuff now.
Weird why it wouldn't install by itself anyway.

Still can't get the realtek to work though.

    Re: Problems installing realtek

    OK some success

Reinstalled realtek after performing the above to get the UAA drivers in.

Then had to update the driver for the HD component on my ATI gfx.

I'm now left with one device as unknown, could this be the uguru?

    Cheers
