Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI Motherboard and 4gigs of RAM

have an Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI Motherboard, i just brought 2x 1gigs Gell Ram same as i had before.

    Overclockers UK

I can install 3gigs (3x1 gig sticks) and it boots but when i put in 4th it doesnt boot, i tried swapping the memory over and still doesnt boot with 4gigs but does again with 3gigs.

My motherboard says it supports more than 4gigs.

*4 X 240-pin DIMM sockets support max. memory capacity 32GB
    Supports Dual channel DDR2 800/667/533 Un-buffered Non-ECC memory *

Do i need a bios update of something?

I know 32bit XP only supports 3.5gigs of RAM, but it should see 4gig in vista, but my main problem is i cant even get the board to boot up with 1x4 gig sticks in the motherboard.

I was suggested to Up your northbridge (MCH) voltage by 0.1v to boost it for 4 sticks ?

Although i havent looked at this in bios yet.

1st check that your RAM voltage is at the value that Geil recommend (1.9V- 2.3V) & not the JEDEC 1.8V.

2nd if it is then try increasing Vdimm & Vmch slightly.

Re: Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI Motherboard and 4gigs of RAM

Some 650i boards struggle with 4GB, one common solution is to drop the speed to 677mhz. Try the other advice first, if it doesn't work then drop the speed.
