Unhappy Stuttering issue on Dark Raider

Hi, I've googled this problem and don't think I've come up with anything definitive so thought I'd ask in here

Basically I sometimes get a system slowdown (mouse jerking, slow program response) after my new build (see My System) comes out of power saving mode. Most people seem to think it's an issue with USB port sharing but I'm inclined to believe it's something to do with power saving...

Anytime, a quad-core Cpu shouldn't be brought to a halt like that, it's undignified

BTW Not at all suggesting it's the Dark Raider's fault, just wondered if someone had come across the issue and successfully resolved it...

Am running WinXP 64 SP2 and have virus-scanned with negative results.

    Thanks for any pointers!

Oops, it's just happened again, and not when it came out of standy but just after about an hour's use...

Will try flashing Bios soon, not sure what else to do....

Do you have any device connected to the IDE port? The JMicron controller did have some issues running in into PIO mode, which will cause some 100% CPU load, which will cause a stuttering mouse.

Please go into the device manager after you wake up from stand-by and check the DMA mode from the IDE device.

Re: Stuttering issue on Dark Raider

I have a DVD drive on an IDE port but it's definitely in DMA mode. I successfully flashed BIOS to 17 so will see if that has any effect - PC has been on for about 5 hours now without the stuttering issue.

BTW The Abit Flashmenu utility froze everytime I tried to use it, ended up clearing CMOS and booting from a USB stick (no working floppy drive)...

    Thanks for the response!

    Cheers

Yup this is why I always recommend to flash via MS-DOS its much safer, plus there are so many switches you can use, that is not available in the Windows Utility.
