    abit ix38 quadgt c1 error

    help me please

im running abit ix38 quadgt with e8400 and cm2x1024-8500 c5d (2gb total), no overclock at all

im always get the c1 code post error at first boot, and if i keep hitting the reset button on the mobo and let the system keep hanging at c1 around 7 or 8 minutes then finaly the pc want to boot, but that means i must open my pc case, hit that reset button, wait around 7-8 min, and hit that button again and wait until the mobo want to boot itself every time i want to use my computer, its kinda annoying for me, dont you think?, i wonder if something is wrong with my system

remember, no overclock at all, i let the current bios setting into "load optimized defaults" excepts:
changing memory timings to 5-5-5-15 and 2T
mannualy changing my fsb ratio to 333x9 (where it supposed to be)
mannualy changing my fsb to dram ratio to 1:1.50 (ddr2-1000mhz), i assume this is 1066??
changing dram voltage from 1.897v (defaults) to 2.150v
changing mch from 1.25v to 1.30v

and if i enabled the c1e support then the windows regonize the cpu running at 1.98ghz
when im disabled the c1e support then it was 3ghz (where it supposed to be)
i wonder if disabling the c1e support will not damage my system isnt it?
im running them with windows xp proffesional sp 2

whats wrong with my pc? why the comp doesnt want to boot from the begining? why i must wait arround 8 minutes to get it boot? why i must open my pc case every time i want to use my comp? and why i must keep hitting and hitting again the reset button on my mobo just in order to get it boot?

help me please, is there any bios setting that i should know? any help will be appreciated
and im very2 sorry for my bad english, its not my natural leanguge

What kind of power supply do you have? And do you have exactly the same problem with just one memory module installed?

hi Abit_NL, thanks for your quick reply

the current power supply is hec raptor 500w pure power, everyting is brand new and im also using stabilizer too

no, if only just 1 ram is inserted then the pc boot normaly from the begining, but thats mean wasting the other stick, any ideas whats wrong with my computer?

and the current bios setting is good enough for me or not?

Re: abit ix38 quadgt c1 error

The PSU might be new, but this HEC PSU might be a little bit too less for your system. And personally I do not have very good experiences with HEC PSU's.

When a system does not post from a cold boot and you need to press the reset button a couple of times is in a lot of cases an PSU issue. So if you are able to test it with another PSU, please give it a try.

What you might wanna try with your mems is to set the DDR Timings to the JEDEC standard (5-5-5-18) and set it 2.1 or 2.2 Volt.

Re: abit ix38 quadgt c1 error

    the problem is solved

i changed the ram slot into 1 and 2

it looks like the dual channel thingy have alot of issues

the performance difference are just around 5% from i heard?

i better choose a stabil pc rather than enabling the dual channel

    stupid dual channel

right now all the bios setting i choose is "load optimized defaults" excepts the fsb and multiplier cpu
default voltage, default dram settings, and everything is more stable now

the cpu-z recgonize the prosessor running at 2ghz
but the windows (right click on my computer) it recgonize the prosessor running at 3ghz
what now? another issue? and what about the C1E support on the bios? what does it for?

Re: abit ix38 quadgt c1 error

I think dual channel is less then 5%, especially at Intel boards that take less advantage of dual channel. Allthough the diffierence isn't big, it should work in dual channel.

That your CPU is at 2 GHz in CPU-Z is because of EIST and C1E.

Try running a benchmark with Prime95 for example, most likely CPU-Z will report 3 GHz as well because it really shows you the actual speed.
