    Big troubles with fans, uguru, and to be frank, I'm flipping peed off with this board

    Right!

    I have a xigamtec HD1283, using the supplied fan on the CPU fan header.

    The troubles I'm having are;
    Sometimes it gets stuck on a fixed speed e.g 900RPM
    Disabling FAN eq doesn't make the fan spin at its full RPM Most times
    In the above if I pull the plug off the header then reconnect it, I get full functionality with the exception that the normal 7v (70%) required to keep it above 300RPM is now only 3v (30%).

    This is weird.
    If I use my NOCTUA fan on the AUX1 (3pin) header I have none of these problems.

    Sometimes UGURU 3.109 seems to crash.
    Can anyone tell me if BIOS17 is more reliable WRT voltages etc.
    I am on 14.

    I am thinking of changing to another MB as there are a few other problems with the board and power like it DOESN't shut off entirely. On a shut down poer is still supplied to USB devices etc, this makes my USB sound card go nuts.
    There is also a problem with the keyboard connector a s it whines depending on Voltage.

    If anyone has a board without any of the above then please tell me, as I'll RMA it.

    I'm assuming the Xigmatek HD1283 has a 3-pin fan. This is unfortunately a known issue with the board. Sometimes it looses control of 3-pin fans on the CPU header. To remedy the situation, power down the system, remove power and hit the power switch (to discharge the capacitors). Restore power back up and it'll regain control of the fan. The only way to ensure this never happens (it should be a rare occurrence anyway) is to get a 4-pin PWM fan or put the CPU fan on one of the 3-pin headers.

    USB power remains to the ports for the purposes of detecting input so that it can come back from a standby-state. There is no way to disable that particular 'feature' of the board.

    The keyboard connector whining I've seen before but that is a rare one. If that's a big issue, I'd RMA it.

    But you can turn off "Wake on USB" setting in BIOS, that may or may not help.
