X38/48 ATI X2 cards bios

Hi all,

Is there any news, or at least rumours about possible bios that fixes incompatibility of X38/48 based Abit boards with ATI X2 cards?

I received an email yesterday with a beta bios that supposedly fixes this issue.
However, i can't test it because i only have one card.

There are 3 things that need to be tested :
1 - Bootable with single x2 card
2 - Bootable with dual x2 cards in Xfire
3 - Issue with " Option ROM Cannot be invoke " when using x2 card and Raid 0 <--- This one causes my optical drives to behave badly in windows...

If anyone is interested in trying this out let me know and i will send you the bios.

I can get my hands on another 3870 x2 card, and have ordered new PSU allready, please send me bios and i will see if i can explode something

Also, i am pretty sure this issue only applies to the 4870x2 series... The 3870x2 cards are not affected ( correct me if i am wrong )

Already tried that one.... didn't work for me...
The file i have is M704B_15.BIN . Haven't tried it yet because i gave up and bought a DFI board which works 100% just fine.... My IX38 is sitting on my desk collecting dust...

Hi,

just got my 4870x2 and fitted it to my Abit IX38 QuadGT only for it not to work. Then I looked on the net and did a search and DOH! all the problems !!! Agghhhh.

Until I viewed this forum just now the way I fixed it was to push the KE switch on the 4870x2 to the up position. This changes it to a PCIE1.0 compatible board and then it booted to windows.

Working but not ideal.

I've got an E8400 C0 stepping CPU so not sure where the 12 Bios would work.

I've read there is a .18 bios but not been able to find a working link. The above lvcoyote link does not work either so can someone provide me with a working link to the M704B_16.ZIP so I can try it.

Any Admin reading this it might be worth creating a new sticky as there are 4 or 5 other threads on here regarding this. If I would have known about the incompatibility I might have not bought a 4870x2 card.

Just used the 16 BIOS and it let me boot with the DIP switches set to default and PCIE 2.0 set.

Good o so far.
