Angry AirPace Wi-Fi And Poor Support Pages

    LONG STORY:

It all started in one rainy monday. I was minding my own business until the postman arrived. The postman was carrying newly bought AirPace Wi-Fi. I should had known something was wrong when I saw that suspicious looking mailman, but I didn`t.

Well, anyway I quickly took Abit AirPace out of package and installed it to my computer. Everything was looking good. Sun was shining and the birds were singing. Then I started the computer I saw the Windows Vista logo appearing and I was happy, I knew I was close to acquiring free wireless network - the one that neighbour had.

I set the installation DVD/CD in and then it happened: "Could not find AirPace, Please check that the device is connected properly". I was like: "OMGZ" and "ROFL". Then I decided to check every knook and cranny ... but no luck. The device was indeed properly connected. Then I thought it was time to go for the next level - visit abit support pages.

I was mad. Only seldom do I have to check support pages. I quickly arrived to abit site ...

    abit.com.tw/page/en/multimedia/multimedia_detail.php?pMODEL_NAME=AirPace+Wi-Fi&fMTYPE=AirPace+Family

And tried to download the following driver and manual files:

    abit.com.tw/pub/download/driver2/airpace/wifi_U1011_20070511.zip
    abit.com.tw/pub/download/manual/english/airpace_wi-fi.zip

But no such luck ... Those files did not exist. Then I decided to email a support request ... and official one and asked for AirPace manual and drivers, I got no response ... I was like "OMGZ" again. And that is pretty much the whole story ...

    SHORT STORY:

I have ASUS M3N-H mainboard and Abit AirPace Wi-Fi. Can not get AirPace to work ... but the main problem that I am whining about here is that ... Abit Support pages are kind of useless. I mean I would like to download those two files ... Yeah, I pretty sure that they will not help me much, but still it would nice to download necessary drivers from manufacturers page ...

So my question is, why is the link not working ... and why are there so many other links in abit site that are bogus?

Re: AirPace Wi-Fi And Poor Support Pages

does device Manager show any unrecognised devices?

This card is actually an Atheros chipset card, try to install the driver for the card manually using Windows default drivers under 'Network Adapters', pick either Atheros AR5006X or AR5006XS.

also I believe that http://www.wireless-driver.com/drive...1_20070511.zip is the Airpace driver v5.1.1.10
