Smile Cpu temperature stuck at 98oC (solved)

As the title says my cpu temperture is always stuck at 98 degrees celcius
ive looked all over the internet and other people have had this problem but none of them have had high temperatures so would not cause as much problems(like temperature stuck at 40).

as it thinks it is 98 degrees i have to disable temperature turn off in the bios to get onto my os so is not that safe, but i can live with it (i do not overclock because of this).

the problem is that any software that can tell what my cpu temperature is will turn off my computer as soon as i turn them on, like the performance tab on nvidia control panel, as soon as i open it it will turn my pc straight off as it thinks my cpu has over heated. so does the program that is supplied with the abit motherboard.

so what im asking is if there is any way to fix this problem or bypass the turn off temperature on software, also is this a problem with my motherboard, my cpu, my fan/heatsink or the heatsink paste

i have the I-G31 motherboard with the E8500 cpu with stock heatsink/fan
    thanks for reading

Edit: i have used coretemp and it states that core 0 is 30oC and core 1 is 41oC so they now state the correct info but i still cannot use programs that go by the cpu temperature not the cores
    so my problem remains

you most likely have an EO stepping CPU.
You could try this beta BIOS http://www.abitshop.eu/bios/m725m_13.bin

    MSI P55-GD80, i5 750
    abit A-S78H, Phenom 9750,

Re: Cpu temperature stuck at 98oC

cheers for the reply, ive had a look on the internet and yes it does have EO stepping. Is that bios for all motherboards or for specific to my motherboard?
Edit: ive found the post on EO stepping updates and found that it is for my motherboard and thanks ive been looking for ages on how to fix this

Be very careful in flashing the bios. It can make your pc dead! Make sure you get the correct bios for your board.
