Overclock issue with IN9X 32Max and E8400 CPU

Having a problem overclocking my board after upgrading to new cpu.
I know that the abit list shows the E0 stepping as test (read unsupported?) but I've heard that others have managed to get great results.

I find that it runs stable at standard speed (prime95 17 hours OK) but it does not overclock very well.
Tried going up to 3.4GHz but it was having none of it and would not boot. So I reduced the FSB.
Managed to get it to boot at 1380MHz (3.1GHz) and running stable at stock voltage but it had problems around the 1400MHz mark (3.15 - 3.2GHz), even if I increased the voltage slightly and relaxed the RAM timings.

I noticed that there is a definitive limit at 1400MHz as it will not boot, although at 1399MHz it will.
So I am suspecting a BIOS problem and having recently flashed to V15 is there anything I can do?

Not sure how stable we are at 1399MHz as the PC crashed last night during testing, but it is not overheating at this speed under load (approx 57decC) and I suspect it is a problem with uGuru taking too much CPU resource.

how are you running your RAM?
if you think that the uGuru GUI is using too much CPU resources (which tbh I doubt) don't use it.

Re: Overclock issue with IN9X 32Max and E8400 CPU

    Running it unlinked around 520-533MHz.
That was my suspect too so hence relaxed timings a little but no real change.
if its unlinked then I don't know why that would cause a problem as the clock speeds noted above have been reported by board and cpu-z.

However, I am planning on installing new RAM soon (4GB Corsair for Windows 7). Although would like to resolve before installing windows 7!

uGuru was using 50% of CPU at times and also recently has caused the system to lock. So you can imagine if trying to run Prime95 on both CPU's at same time....
I did alter the priority in task manager and that seemed to help.
May consider not using it but it is handy to view temps and voltages.

So I suppose I am really posting about two issues here:
    1. Clocking FSB to 1400MHz and beyond
    2. Stability and testing

I just refuse to believe that I can only get 150MHz extra out fo this CPU!! Surely another explanation?

Re: Overclock issue with IN9X 32Max and E8400 CPU

Actually, now that I've mentioned RAM what is everybody else using with this board?

I was thinking of the Corsair Dominator GT 2x2GB 8500 (1066MHz) but not convinced it is compatible.
Corsair recommend Dominator 1066MHz and 800MHz and I have read about people getting better results with the 800MHz.
Sorry I can't remember the exact part no's, but they are the level just below Dominator (XMS I think - although is also called dominator)

    thoughts?

that's very unusual - some versions had a memory leak so over long enough that would have an affect but normally CPU usage is minimal.
May consider not using it but it is handy to view temps and voltages.
plenty of other apps can do this.
