    Exclamation Cpu upgrade on IP35

Having an E2180 running for about 2 years on an IP35 with the bios "18" i would like to change it for a E6300 or E6500... However this bios has been released on may 2008 and those new Pentiums have been released last summer... i have read in different forums that i will need a bios update for the well recognization of those cpus... is it true? Because i wouldn't like to sell my E2180 in order to buy a E6300/6500 and at the end my system won't boot up or will be not stable !!!

    Re: Cpu upgrade on IP35

As Abit has gone bankrupt 1 year 1/2 ago is their support still existing ? Will a bios update be released for this model in order to accept the last 775 Intel's cpus ?

I have an IP35 pro with BIOS rev 14 and I just installed an E7500 with no problems. If there is nothing wrong with your BIOS don't change it.

Thanks for your reply Jerry i just think it is odd that such a "new" c2d with such an old bios version is well recognized by your mainboard and windows...you do have no problems with temperatures readings or recognization of your cpu ? Could you post a cpu-z screen with both mainboard and cpu , (2 pics) ? it would be very cool from you
I've just seen the cpu support list and the e7500 isn't even listed !!

    Re: Cpu upgrade on IP35

I'm at work but I can send u those screenies. When I first installed the CPU the BIOS did register it with a temp of 67c! So I removed the heatsink and reinstalled it again and it read 67c again Did some research and found out (i forgot which site) that for the Wolfdale's it is very common to have a stuck sensor, so i installed real temp which also measures the distance from TJ and my core temps are 28c/33c I have fan/temp controller on my Antec 902 and I have a sensor as close to the CPU as possible and it registers 26c and I have a Zalman 9500a installed. Loaded Cpuid and it registers my E7500 perfect. When I get home tonight I will do the first stress and sensor test to get more accurate data and I will let you know about that as well. Again Windows is booting great, Cpuid registers my E7500 and all installed hardware, not sure if I want to flash my BIOS and have possible boot or other issues

    Re: Cpu upgrade on IP35

Thanks for replying jerry that's cool i have the non "pro" version called ip35 so it should work i think but the model that i want has been released after your e7500... i want pentium e6300 or 6500 as they are cheaper... so i succeeded in finding elsewhere (i don't remember) a beta bios released in september 08 so maybe will it work otherwise i will have to sell back my ip35 for a gigabyte or asus one which at least have better support for bios release to accept newer cpus... what a pity as il like abit brand i don't understand how they went bankrupt !!!
