    AW9D doesn't turn on

    Hello everyone.

    First, system specs:

    Abit aw9d-max
    Intel c2d E6400
    2x1Gb Team Elite DDR2-800
    Ati hd4850 512mb
    Enermax Liberty 500W

I built this system about 3 years ago i guess, never had any trouble. Yesterday I went to turn the computer on, and the system didn't boot. It doesn't even turn on. The postcode display only shows an "F." briefly and then nothing. My first thought was that the PSU burnt or something. I tried connecting it to an old P4 I have and it worked great. I tried clearing CMOS, new battery, unplugging everything, and it's still the same.

The postcode "F." doesn't show up on the MB manual, only "F.0", "F.1", etc. I'm thinking the MB died, but I'm still not convinced. Can anyone help me on this?

    No-one can really help.
All you can do is test each part independently until you find the fault.

I would be leaning towards the board, i have seen loads of old EVGA boards that just say "FF" and dont boot.

Take the RAM out of the board, attach a speaker and see if it complains. If it doesn't there is a good chance its the board

I've had an FF fault in the past, turned out the SATA cable was knackered, I would take everything out apart from one stick of ram, absolutely everything, disconnect the lot, apart from power obviously and give it a go.

    Re: AW9D doesn't turn on

Well, the postcode isn't actually "FF", it is just one "F", it flashes an "F" and then nothing happens.

I tried booting with another PSU, I tried without the sticks of ram, with just one, with the other, no HDD's connected to the board ... well, anything I do it just does the same. No boot, the fans don't even work, it just flashes the "F", maybe the board is saying "Fail" or something

Anyway, I already gave up, got a good deal on a cpu+board+ram bundle, already on the way.

Thanks for the help guys, take care.
