Question IP35 Pro and 8GB of RAM

I have an IP35 Pro that I've been running with 4GB (4X1GB) of mixed ram for some time. I want to upgrade to 8GB (4x2GB), but I can't get the system to post with any combination of ram over 4GB. I bought 4 new 2GB matching DIMMS, but any time I try to boot with 3 or 4 sticks, the system hangs on boot with a 4E error. Any ideas I should try? I've tried manual timings, lowering the ram speed, increasing ram and NB voltage, but am willing to try other things before I send the RAM back.

In case it matters, the CPU is a Q6600. I'm not overclocking or doing anything else like that.

Did you ever go ahead with this?

I am interested as I have the same board and want 8gb.

I found this forum and an OCZ rep says it's ok

I purchased the memory, but was never able to get the system to POST with 8GB. I returned the RAM for a refund and went back to 4GB. If you get it to work, please let me know what RAM sticks you used.

Will do. What exact ram did you use so that I don't try the same?

    Thanks.

It was the following from Amazon:
PNY Optima 4GB (2x2 GB) DDR2 800 MHz PC2-6400 Desktop DIMM Memory Module Dual Channel Kit - MD4096KD2-800

I ordered two of the above, for 4x2GB DIMMs.

Re: IP35 Pro and 8GB of RAM

There were some known problems with this board and large amounts of RAM. I looked into it briefly when I owned one but decided I didn't want the hassle.

This thread lists a few modules as working, but was about as far as I got in my research. Some model numbers near the end; http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1522782

Re: IP35 Pro and 8GB of RAM

    Thank you for that info.

I will take a gamble on it as the XMS2-8500 seems to hold its value so I can always re-list it if it goes wrong.

    Thanks.
