    AN8 Ultra HTT limit

This is possibly the wrong place to ask this, but does anyone have a rough idea of what the HTT limit on an AN8 Ultra is?

Officially it's 1000 (2000 if you apply the 2-way parameter). I'm curious as to why you ask - typically there is no benefit to running max HTT, so if you are overclocking there is no performance loss in droping the HTT multiplier to 4x or 3x to keep the total under 1000 while upping the CPU frequency. In short, there is an excess of bandwidth. Think of it as a 10-lane motorway with 3 cars running on it - there is no performance penalty if you drop this to an 8 or even 6 lane motorway.

If you are asking what is the max CPU frequency, I believe the BIOS allows you to go all the way up to 400, but you be lucky to find a CPU that can match this.

Basically I should be getting an Opteron 170, but as my RAM isn't really made for pushing, I've worked out that 312 x 9 would get me to 2.8GHz and with the 133MHz divider, the RAM would stick to it's stock 200. So I wanted to know if an AN8 Ultra could handle a 312HTT.

    ~400
Usually you can get to ~325 without touching chipset voltages etc.

The 170 runs on the 10x multiplier just like my 146. You could just as easily run it at 10x280 with the RAM divider @ 133. You RAM will run @ 186 (DDR 372). CPU speed is king on the A64 platform, so you wouldn't even notice the difference between 186 & 200. It would probably be a bit less stressful on the chipset too.
