    AN8 32x post error F.5

    Hi

I have just bought an Abit AN8 32x mobo and a new case.
I have transferred my CPU, VGA card, RAM and HDD from my old pc into the case and plugged the PC into the power. I flick the power switch on the back of the PSU and immediately get an error on the post display.

It reads 1 for a second then F.5 I can't power on the machne any further.

I have tried a bare bones installation, but still the same F.5 code.

I have even powered up with absolutely nothing plugged into the board - same error code.

This error code isn't listed in the manual and I can't find any reference to it on the web.

Has anyone got an idea what could casuse this?

    Thanks

    Hi

I do believe I have a screw in that hole.
But that forum thread refers to post error 9.0 I am getting post error F.5

I F.5 not a real post error, and if so what does it mean?

If it causes a failure on the board, can I return for replacement as it seems to be admitted as an Abit oversight?

    Thanks

If there is a screw in that hole then you have short circuited the motherboard and any post codes you are getting would be worthless. Is there any physical damage to the board? if not then simply remove the motherboard and test outside the case i.e. place the motherboard onto cardboard.

If there is still no post contact your vendor for an RMA number.

    Hi

I have removed the screw and the metal peg under the board, and still no luck.

It is surprising the post display shows F5 consistantly, surely someone had to code that display to show F.5 in certain circumstances.

I will try with it out of the case completely as advised.

    Thanks
