Help on KN8, New Battery Flat in less then 1month

hi all,

i recently buy a KN8 m/board for my brother, is running on windows xp pro,

bios setting all default except the DRAM timer set to 2T (After less 5 minutes the computer boot up, windows will hang if running in default mode, and the shop suggest I to change the timing of Dram, and is running very well after changing on this setting)

After less then 1 month, my brother complain that the system was hang again after about few minutes the computer boot. So I check the bios and found that all configuration back to default mode and even the time and date too.
So I re-set as the setting that I 1st mention before and update the time&date, and I save and exit.
I turn off the computer and also the power.

When I boot the computer again after the about 5 minute’s power off, the configuration back to default again, so I suspect it was the problem of battery.
So I buy a new battery and replace it.
Few weeks later, the problem come back again, all the setting back to default again, as the power turn off.

What should I do? Should I change the battery again? But then this problem will never solve.

i would RMA it based on that, battery should last at least a year.

I understand battery life should longger, even few year.
so i was wondering what's wrong of my m/board.

well theres so much on there, chance is you will never find out, by the looks of it the battery is either going flat due to some parasitic drain, or its having a "glitch" and losing the battery power resetting it.

i know it sounds daft, but if the board has the old 3 pins with a jumper to reset the BIOS, is it located right ? or even missing, i have seen a simular thing a few years ago where the jumper vanished off the BIOS pins and was in the bottom of the case.

And I have checked those pin, it was on the position that they should be.

so do u guys have any experience on this kind of case?
