    AB9 Pro BIOS?

I a BIOS update the otherday using flashmenu...

It found and flashed a BIOS, I rebooted, set the BIOS up again and when I got into windows and fired up FlashMenu the BIOS still had the same number and date as when I started, maybe I'm using an old version of FlashMenu or maybe I'm just cracking up, who knows....

The bios will say the version as well. At the bottom of the first page of the bios there is a long line of characters, the last 2 digits are the bios version.

What bios version are you updating to?

this looks like the beta1.6 floating around which lists 00 instead of 16. It also shows as both 15 and 16 depending on what apps u use to check

Bios 15 is the latest version. But you can try the beta bios. Is there a reason you need to update?

probably tryin to get a higher OC I am going to give the beta1.6 a go tonight as it apparently adds AHCI to the JMicron so perhaps it may (slim chance) address the performance hit I am getting from an optical drive on that controller (yes I know they are not AHCI compliant) If not then I guess Ill have to hit Scan for a SATA optical drive

Sean, while your are "here" on this topic, under ideal circumstances, do you recommend or see any advantage to flashing from DOS as opposed to using OS based utilities? The only bios flash I have ever had fail came using an OS based flash (no, NOT ABIT). I have successfully used the ABIT Flash Menu utility in the past. Just curious on your opinion here.

I always recommend flashing the bois in DOS. As theres nothing running in the background to upset the flash procedure.

That said there is more and more people who don't use floppy drives so it makes it harder to use dos. Also the AW9D & AB9 both have a 1mb bios which means you can't fit the boot files & bios on one disk anymore.
