Ouch AW9D-MAX it is then :( Already over budget and being 15- concentrating on GCSE's (gaming :hehe:) and going out with m8's atleast 3 days a week surely stretches pocket money :D

the Abit KN9 SLI MCP55P SKT AM2 nForce 570 SLI has been a nightmare since i bought it and was determand to solve the problem but faild. So i was going to risk abit again and going for the Abit FATALITY AN9 32X Socket AM2 SLI i see that pple have had issues with the earlyer moddles and wondered if the new versions of the board where alot better and wondered if someone could point me in the right direction to a better board PLEASE help me!!!

HINT: by the sounds of your spec your have ALL the need (apart from your cpu) to convert to intel and do SERIOUS overclocking (if indeed thats is what you wish to do) You could go the following route

SELL your AM2 chip and Board and use the money to buy a Conroe and another abit motherboard. It makes sense as the intel cpu clocks faster uses less power and is therefore cooler i.e better overclocks on your abit board

If you go intel I would suggest a IN9-32 MAX board they come out very soon and I will have the reuslts for you on the same day of release into the UK. Or you could purchase the AW9D-MAX BOTH boards are superb overclockers and are rock solid stable. Please note since the I932-max uses the NVIDIA 680i CHIPSET you cna OVERCLOCK the CPU separete from your RAM, this means you dont reallyneed fast memory to overclock.

However if you only wish to game then please stick with the AMD board and chip.

Having said the last line ifd you think about it if you can overclock to high speeds= higher temps it would stand to reason that the board will be MORE stable at stock speeds also.

I like ABIT since my first and present MBO- KN8 ultra but i had some lags in day of defeat on 1280x1024 high details, and find out the cooler on the chipset wasn't enough it was going over 60 C in load.So i bought a ZALMAN ZM-NB47J and i left the original cooper base on the chipset put the Z over and fixed with a wire to the bended pins from cooper base and thermal grese between and hanged over the previous fan and now doesn't go over 43 C afters hours in load, 34-38 CPU on 2,2GHZ, 34-40 C VGA, 32 RAM(all temp measured with KAMA meter from Scythe).I overclock the CPU to 2.3ghz from BIOS and look stabil and good temp also i tried 2.4ghz but look to be unstable and i guess i didn't push the RAM aswell.But the RAM anyway doesn't work on CL2 just 2.5 on auto or SPD and manualy i don't know all the 11 timings to set.
Also after i will solve somehow i don't know yet the RAM problem to run in their real timing, i want to upgrade to intel CPU + a good ABIT mbo and i already bought power color X1950XT 512 RAM and Gskil 2x1gb 800mhz 4-4-3-5 to fit with ABIT + E6400 which i want to buy soon but i think maybe will be better to go with ABIT with 965 or 975X chipsets rather then Nvidia but wich one it is a big question for me....

I was thinking of A9WD MAX and the ABIT quad GT and even MSI 975X platinum look very well exept the cooling solution which doesn't compare to ABIT and probably the capacitors aswell are not so good... i don't know.but remain on ABIT, does this boards have a real SATA on it or do i have to make raid to benefit from sata because now my HDD is on IDE 3 LBA aparently with the BIOS up to date but i just want to use the speed of SATA not the RAID feature wich u need at least 2 HDD.

In choosing the MBO i will cut off the dual graphik as i'm not interested at all to buy a second video card just for the sake of the market but if SLI present i don't mind if doesn't give me problems with my single VGA or eat the resources for nothing.ANd a MBO which will last for some time thinking for the future could come a quad on it.

I've seen some tests with 965 and 975x based MBO's and is look E6300 and E6400 have slightly better performances on 965 and from E6600 are better on 975X chipsets.
ANYway with CPU i think it will be the E6400.
I think the IN9 32X it is a thunder among the other MBOs but will be a lightning in my pocket.
I can't go over the price of AW9 MAX even that is a lot for me.
I'm thinking aswell for a good onboard sound but because i'm more of a gamer i think they didn't invest to much in that MAX is still onboard sound.... damn probably i should look for a Creative ...more money.
i'm more of a gamer then overclocker but i'd like at least 100% from my PC i will be grateful if you can help me in this matters and i hope i didn't confuse somebody with my typing.
What do you think will be the value for my X2 4200+ kn8ultra 939 as i want to sell?
And a silly question: why they write this on S.T.A.L.K.E.R case: "system recomended C2Duo E6400/X2 4200+...." etc they are equivalent?

At the moment & particularly with an E6400 I would recommend the QuadGT over the AW9D.
They are both good mobos but the 975X chipset doesn't hit as high fsb as 965 does so with the 8x mult on an E6400 you'll probably hit a higher CPU overclock on 965.
Both will run a quad core.

Both boards have native sata (which shows in the BIOS as IDE as it emulates that) or you can install in AHCI with a driver but it really doesn't make much difference at all to overall performance.

The QuadGT is a cracking mobo though :D

Thanks for you answer i always thought AWD9 is superior to the quad GT:undecided but how about the features of 975X vs 965? or the 975X got just some dual graphik better support and just that wont be a point for me....:undecided

the QuadGT is the better mobo for clocking a quad core.
As for features it all depends what you need/want.
The QuadGT's southbridge is superior but if you have IDE devices then you have to play around with the JMicron controller whereas the AW9D has native IDE support.
The AW9D's Crossfire is better but only a little & only apparently at res. over 1600x1200.

At this point I would not recommend the fatality abit an9 32x,...I am deep into a continuing struggle to stabilize my system including this board.
