    Fusion Max - Opinions/Suggestions.

Been through a number of these cases in the last few weeks, from what I can tell, each has been delivered faulty.

All have had an LCD that has been so massively backlit that the black senction of the display appears bright "pink". Also none of the LCD's have turned off when the PC is shut down. At even the slightest angle, the entire display turns into a pink square and the display is unreadable.

Initially I figured I'd got a bad case, but all of the subsequent cases have also been identical.

I tried contacting Antec by email but none of the email contact addresses on Antecs site have illicited any response, even the complaints address!!

In the end I had to resort to phoning Holland, who tell me that the display should be a black/dark blue background with white text. There appears to be no explanation as to why the display refuses to shut down when the PC shuts down.

None of the LCD's I've seen bear any resemblance to black/white. They've all been pink squares with cyan text (if viewed from directly infront). All of the review pictures I've seen show the LCD as blue text on darker blue background.

I also have an older Fusion 430 (mATX) version of this case, the LCD on that case (which appears to be indentical in terms of functionality) appears correctly as blue text on dark blue background, is readable from any angle, and correctly turns off when the PC shuts down.

So, I wondered if anyone who owns a Fusion Max can offer a description of their LCD?

This case is perfect for my needs, but a bright pink square eminating from the front of the case makes it entirely unsuitable as a media PC. It's so bright it lights the entire room when the lights are low.

Before I give it up as a bad job, I thought I'd ask for other opinions. Anyone got a Fusion Max with a display that doesn't go pink? Is there an issue with the LCD's on the Fusion Max range of cases?

    Regards

Ah well, I guess no-ones got one.

Ended up going through 5 Fusion Max's, all suffered the same LCD problem so I assume it's a universal problem.

Antec don't appear to respond to emails, quite an eye opener.

Gave up on this case as a bad job. A potentially good case ruined by shoddy QA. AVOID!

It's a bummer that you have had so many issues with the cases, MonkeyL.

Just curious, along with e-mails, have you tried their online support system - http://www.antec.com/NAnewticket.html or call line - http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/index.php?page=support --->

    "1-800-222-6832 (800-22ANTEC) from 10:00am to 4:00pm Pacific Time"

Hi there, yeah I tried the support system and pretty much every appropriate email address on the site... didn't get any response. Subsequently submitted a complaint about the lack of responses. No response

I didn't call the US support number as I am in the EU, so decided to phone Holland. Didn't really get anywhere, they claimed that the LCD *may* go pink when viewed from an angle... which I took to mean, "Yeah there's a problem but we don't want to acknowledge it", since the displays were so bad (at any angle) it seems inconceivable that no-one could have noticed.

I guess you didn't bother to read what the thread is about then?

    Re: Fusion Max - Opinions/Suggestions.

Same issues with the case on the other side of the world. The LCD is a terrible, terrible job. Over 2mm of backlight bleed on the left and right of the display, and as above, the display is closer to white on pink than blue on black.

I'm assuming the acrylic cover in front of the screen was supposed to be heavily tinted. This would have aided in hiding this, but even so the backlight is still way too bright.

Other issues with the case as well. Cable management options are poor and HDD bays are poorly thought out; sata power cables are a nightmare to connect for each bay.

Case has promise, just has some really hideous flaws that shouldn't have even gotten close to getting through manifacturing.

Indeed, a sad state of affairs, compounded by the complete lack of any information or response from Antec, via any channel.

I guess the Antec people no longer support this forum either?

    Re: Fusion Max - Opinions/Suggestions.

It became obvious from this and other threads to not even bother with Antec 'support' and that I should either just return the case or fix myself....

I ended up just placing a thin piece of blue matte paper between the backlight and LCD to defuse it. From further away and directly in front this works fine. But from angles and close up you can see the veins of the paper since the light is just so bright. I'm thinking a piece of 80GSM gloss should handle it, plus some black electrical tape around the sides to stop light bleed.

Also had the molex connector that powers the front power light fall apart on me.... urgh...

I have a fusion black (least thats what the t'interweb calls it).

The lcd/vfd whatever it is sucks, thats about it from me.

Why did they use a blue on blue design, makes no sense.

    Re: Fusion Max - Opinions/Suggestions.

Mine wasn't blue on blue. All of the ones I've had delivered have been Cyan on Pink.

Still no response from any email address on Antec's site, looks like support requests are no longer processed.

Have to confess, this experience has severly dented my faith in Antec, if you can't get any support then the warranty is effectively useless (or simply doesn't exist).

In light of that it seems pointless considering Antec for any future purchases. A shame, have been happy with their cases for the last few years, but the Fusion Max LCD is so bad I can only assume that the designer was blind, or severely visually impaired.
