Re: Antec 300 CPU Cut Out

There is also a post in the Scan case section regarding a v2 of the P183 as well, looks like Antec are tweeking some of the cases.

Looking at the description for the P183 on Antecs site it does say CPU cut out but the picture does not show it and it is not listed as a version 2, the 300 does not say or show a picture but the 200 does have a version 2 with an updated picture.
Guess the site will be updated soon.

But right, we need to update the websites and descriptions.

Cool as I'm tempted to buy one for an Open Filer Case so anything to help with cooling.

Thanks for the cpu cut out. But what about some holes around the motherboard tray for cable routing?

Hi, there is not very much space behind the tray unfortunately.

Re: Antec 300 CPU Cut Out

hmm, I'm just planning to do the cut-out myself, and paint the insides black...

Anyways, a big up for Antec for "tweaking" the existing product line

I would further modify the case with the following:

-use quieter fans (use FDB bearing like scythe!)
    -black inside
-remove the place for the optional side panel fan... (since my soundproofing layer covered it, I got b etter airflow and lower temps)

Agreed - I have a 300, and whilst it's a great case the side opening is unfiltered anyway.
The standard fans are OK, but noisy. Can anyone recommend what what fit ? There's not much room with the HSF there.

I would have placed the cpu heatsink blowing into the top fan. That way the NB would keep cool. At present you have little airflow over the NB. I experimented it with an infrared thermometer.

Sure, but there is a row of capacitors, plus the heat spreaders on the ram that mean it was going to be very tricky maneouvre to get the HSF in that way round.

    I went with these

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/120mm...1D-Fan-800-RPM

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/140mm...ber-Fan-Mounts

Brilliant fans, both of them are under 10dba and they have the same dimensions as the built-in antec fans, so they will fit without a problem.

    +1 for the Fractal fans.

I have 5 or 6, maybe even 7 of the 120mm silent ones they do and they are awesome fans.

Re: Antec 300 CPU Cut Out

Sorry to bump this thread, but does anyone know whether there are cut outs on the p180 mini? Any other recent changes on the Three Hundred or P183? (yes, I'm struggling to decide which to get...)
