installing 2.5" SSD in Antec p180

I bought a 2.5" Corsair SSD and am trying to install it in my P180. Though the SSD comes with a 2.5"-3.5" mounting bracket, the bracket is too short, and so its mounting holes don't line up with the mounting holes in the drive cage (where the rubber grommets are) - it seems that the drive cage only fits full length drives with mounting holes in just the right places.

I bought another 2.5-3.5" adapter (akasa) but it also looks too short.

I appreciate the reason for the design (reduce vibrations), but how can I mount my SSD? Is there a full length 2.5-3.5 mounting bracket available that would do the job?

I too bought an Akasa 3.5>2.5 adapter and it wouldn't fit in my Xigmatek Asgard case correctly either :@ Looking around the webs it seems to be a common problem with them.

Edit: You could jsut leave your SSD on the bottom of the case, there are no moving parts and it shouldn't get damaged doing this.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Mine are just screwed into the normal drive trays with a single screw

thanks, a bit low-tech but might just work ;-)

the 3.5" drive cage i'm trying to put it in actually lies on its side (with the drives side-on) when the case is upright , but I might be able to put it somewhere else in the case, e.g. blu-tack it to the bottom of the 5.25" drive cage which would be the right way up. Will experiment. A proper full size 3.5-2.5 adapter would be neater though if such a thing exists...

anyone know if SSDs generate much heat?

tried that but in the P180 the drives are kind of suspended just on the screws, with rubber grommets between screw and drive to reduce vibration noise, so if I attach the normal Corsair 3.5-2.5 adapter with just one screw on either side it kind of flaps about (i.e. it pivots on the screws) which didn't seem ideal - but thanks for the suggestions!

They don't really, no. Can't you pop the drive in the miniature card-reader bay between the front fan slots?

I used Duct tape to tape it to the side of the drive bays. Why worry? No moving parts, no real heat

I think that's already occupied by a miniature card reader!

Just selotape it up as someone suggested - its not too far from what Scan and such do with theyre drives as far as i know.

    Damn you

Thought that might happen. I'd just suspend it with something then, elastic, string or even tape.
