When is the Antec P280 going to be released?
When is the Antec P280 going to be released?
Hi Skeese,
We are still working on the last finishing touches for the P280. The product should be ready in fall this year. We are all very keen on getting this product into the hands of our customers, because this case is just awesome!!!
Best regards,
ANTECsupport
Make sure you change those flimsy-looking HDD holders, and make the fans all black
Thanks
Sorry to hear the Biscuit. But you know, there is always eBay! Also you still have some time before the P280 is released. So just use the case you have now, and then replace it with the awesome P280 when it is available!
They might be flimsy-looking, but they are certainly not. I am sure that you guys won't be disappointed with the P280 when it will be around! You know 'patience is a virtue'
Any chance of an update on the Antec P280's progress?
Fall is officially here and that was the lost known indicator of when the case was suppose to be released. If you have anymore information you can give us on the release date and maybe a more concrete price than somewhere between $130 and $150, that would be great.
I will understand if you can't or don't have any information at this time to share, but would like to know which month the case is expected to hit retail, at the very least.
Hi gorice13,
We also can't wait to present you the P280, and believe me we are working hard to meet the deadlines. At this time all we can say is that it is on its way with a bit of unforeseen delay. Just stick around, and we will make sure everyone will be informed in time.
Best regards,
ANTECsupport
As long as the P280 gets released for Christmas sale, then I'll be okay with waiting. Just wanted to see if there was anymore information to give me a better idea of when to expect the cases release.
Also one small question on the design aspect of the P280. Why did you decide to stick with 120mm fans when you could have put 140mm fans in the case? I've read online that an Antec rep said 140mm fans make more noise than 120mm fans and that is the reason. Was wondering if that's true or not.
Thanks for the speedy response.
It will be there before X-Mas sales that is for sure.
Regarding the fans: It all depends on the fan you are choosing. We have great experience and results from our 120mm fans. Also if you would choose to exchange any of the fans, you have much more choice than when it would be all 140mm fans. The plus of higher CFM airflow are negligible in my opinion. It mostly depends on the overall construction and airflow within an enclosure on how well it can perform/cool.
That's really all I wanted to know right now about the case, now all I have to do is wait for its release.
I can see how someone could take what you said about the fan choice and say that it was from a noise/performance ratio standpoint as to why you stuck with 120mm fans. It's also true that two 120mm fans provide more coverage, CFM, and static pressure than even one 200MM fan. So I agree with the choice to stick with 120mm fans for the intended purpose and design of the case.
Thanks again for the quick response.
yeah I dont know how much longer I can wait!
Well the P280 is getting slightly nearer, as it was on display at Blizzcon 2011. You can see some photos here: http://www.pcper.com/news/Cases-and-...-Blizzcon-2011
Nice to see the rubber cable hole grommets have been added, otherwise, the power and reset buttons are now on the top of the case, the TrueQuiet fans have been changed to the cheaper TwoCool fans, the 5.25" tooless bays have different latching mechanisma, and lastly, the front door is now gunmetal grey. I prefered the silver/aluminium look of the prototype, but I can understand why they've gone for something more subtle.

Its on pre-order at JR jr.com/antec/pe/ANT_P280
Just one question to antec's support - In the pics from Blizzcon it seems the side panel behind the motherboard is perforated... is it true?
If it is, what is the point of having those heavy layered material for the chasis, if you are making it look like a sieve anyway??
How can you expect it to be quiet?
