    PSU Question for New Build

I am getting ready to build a new PC, and since it's been a long time since I've built one, I want to make sure I use the correct PSU. Here are the specs:

    Intel i5-2500 CPU
    Intel DH67GD Mobo
1 SSD Drive and 1 Optical Drive
    8 GB DDR3 RAM
    2 120mm Case Fans (1 intake and 1 exhaust)
    5 or 6 USB 2.0 Devices
    Wireless Router

I am not into gaming and most likely will never be, so I will not have a graphics or sound card, just going with onboard video and audio.

Although I don't anticipate any changes or add-ons, I do want some headroom on the PSU for future-proofing.

I like the Earthwatts series, so I'm wondering if the 380W or 430W would be best for my situation. Or if there is another PSU/wattage that would work better. I don't mind spending a bit more to get what I need, but I don't want to "overbuy" or "overpower."

I have used several online "PSU calculators" but came up with several wildly different power requirements so I'm getting confused about the whole thing.

Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!!

What are you using the PC for BTW??

A decent 250W to 300W PSU would power the system you mentioned easily.

Cat, thanks for your response and advice.

Primarily it will be an "office" type computer -- web browsing, some file downloads, email, spreadsheets, scanning, word documents, some photo downloads and editing. No video editing or large video downloads, although there is a possibility I might add a TV tuner card at some point, but not for sure about that.

Not a screaming system, I know . I know I don't need a PSU that will dim all the lights in the neighborhood, just want to make sure I have adequate power for now and the forseeable future if I should have any add-ons.

    Thanks again!

I would get a Core i3 2120 or a Llano quad core for that sort work. TBH,such CPUs would be fine for years.

    Hi gta04,

You should have a look at the VP350 or VP450 (http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=NzA0NDE4). They will be ideal for your office needs.

The next higher model would be EarthWatts EA430 Green that offers better efficiency.

    Best regards,
