    Apple Automator

I have never used Automator before but when I turn this mac into a media centre I'm gonna want to launch Front Row as soon as the computer starts.

I want the command to go something like this:

    - wait 20 seconds
    - press Apple + esc

    and that's it

    How easy is it?

I think you can just drag front row into one of your startup items.

Can't remember where the option for that is at the mo, i'm new to macs.

Normally to start an app you just right click on the icon and select open on login. Front row is slightly different though.

Not sure how you can do it myself.

I know you can right click on items in the dock and get them to launch on start-up although this isn't the case with front row due to it almost being a background service.

    Anyone else got any ideas?

Write an applescript, compile and add as a launch item? I think the code should be something like

    tell Front Row to start

The syntax is very close to english. You might also be able to use automator to start the executable itself. If you can find the program it is actually a folder with a .app extention. For example the finder is finder.app. From there go to Content/MacOS/. There you should find a program that can be launched by a command line. I'm not sure where front row is since I don't have a new fancy-smancy new mac.
