    Apple Imac question

One of the 'kids' got a new Imac recently. I've played with windows PC's for a number of years now but I was quite stunned by the Imac in as much that I have never seen a 'desktop' that was so clear or such a smooth rolling action when using the mouse. I had a look at the properties and the 'spec' is very similar to a c2d's except with mac os. Now I was wondering if this clarity was down to the 20'' monitor quality, the ATI grahics card or simply the Imac os.

Is it one of the new ones?

They do use good panels - also they have glossy finish - both of which contributes to the waythe screen looks for you

More than likely the glossy screen, I miss it Had it on my macbook, but now got the matte screen on my macbook pro (had to get it from John Lewis so didnt get the choice!)

Yes it is only a couple of weeks old. It is my first encounter with a Imac and I must admit to being 'knocked out' by it.

Gah! They come with glossy screens?! Noooooooooo! I've got one arriving at work for me next week... oh well, suppose I'll just have to sit in a room with no other light sources

Also, rather bizarrely, the way the mouse moves in OS X is one of my biggest grumbles with the operating system.

It's not the brightness that I'm worrying about. It's the reflections. I hate glossy screens - I think they are a step backwards.

Have you ever used one of the apple ones?

You don't get reflections, and they work so much better with a light source shining on them than the old matte screens. You get a much sharper picture too - its about as close as you can get to proper CRT style colour reproduction than bog standard LCD screens which are all frankly shocking.
