unable to upgrade safari or access apple store

Hi all,

I have recently got my Mac onto a net connection and am trying to get all relevant updates. Each time i try to access any apple site or the itunes store it says "iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection timed out."

I can access all other sites and have disabled my firewall to try and get round the issue.

i am currently running safari version = 1.2.4 (v125.12) and itunes version = v4.7(41)

Any ideas on how i can get safari to update and connect to the itunes store?

What OS are you running on the Mac, 10.3 Panther?

Guess its not been updated in a while, iTunes 4.7 was released in October 2004. Reason I ask is because 7.7.1 is the latest version you can install on 10.3, so if your trying to install later version it won't work.

How are you trying to update the apps at the moment, from your post it sounds like your trying to download them from the Apple website?

I'd recommend clicking on the Apple menu and hit 'software update...', if its not been done for a while expect to see a big list!

Yes, i am running 10.3 Panther.

Ive tried hitting the software update button but the request still times out. Im actually unable to download anything at this moment, although i can browse the net.

Seems very strange.
