How To Clean (Whiten) iMac G4 Case?

I have just bought an old iMac g4 and it is looking rather discolour and I wanted to find a way to make it look as new as possible! I have done some research and seen 3 ideas but I wanted opinions or better ideas if possible. The ones I have seen are:

1. Use Mr Cleans Magic Eraser, but I don't know what the product is or how to use it.

2. Someone said they applied concentrated bleach on cotton wool buds and this made it look like new but i would be abit cautious without propa guidelines.

3. It was said that window cleaner would work but I think that is well too week to clean it I feel it needs to be whitened or de-stained rather than cleaned.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

alcohol spray works well on tobacco stains on projector bodies.

Just remember to test on an area that's under the hood or out the way if things go melty. If none of those suggestions work above last resort would be to get some white car gloss spray and give it a blast.

Yeah I will definitely do that haha and you never know I might end up resorting to that!

That's a brilliant idea, I bet it would look brand new!

The only problem is I think I remember someone saying that if the case is opened you need to apply thermal paste somewhere before closing it and if left open for too long there are thermal pads or something that if something happens to them need to be replaced by a mac specialist cus they are the only people who can get hold of them or something. Don't know how true it is so may have to research.

Toothpaste! Usually contains optical brighteners and is a mild abrasive to polish the top layer down a little.

Steam is amazing, I lent my steam cleaner to a friend after he saw how clean it got my floor after new year (30 people walking on it made it black) to clean his leather settee which had 5 years of nicotine stains on and it came up as 'new'

Hmm I might give that a go, do you think I should use smokers toothpaste (think it has carbonated soda in) or just normal whitener? And to apply with the rough side of a scourer then wipe clean with a slightly damp microfiber cloth?

Yeah I agree steam cleaners give amazing results and I think it would make it look near new! Just want to check if I could damage it by taking the case off first though as I am abit wary about it.

Either should be fine though using soda is probably a good idea (could use a baking soda paste on its own, or vinegar too). I'd be wary of using a scourer as I think you'll leave scratches in the surface, use something soft (like an old toothbrush!)
