Powerbook - Educational discount here or buy in US?

I'm thinking of getting a powerbook (15inch) but I'm undecided 'where' to get it.
I have 2 choices, get it using a relatives educational discount OR get one when I visit the States in a month or so?

So the main questions are, Are there any differences between the 2 territories machines, other then keyboard layout? Is there a huge price difference given the educational discount?

    Any advice appreciated.

You can look at the discount price on the apple site and compare. The only differences between the machines will be the powerpack , you will have to get a uk one when you get back

I thought the powersupplies were auto-sensing and you just needed a uk plug to replace the us one.

I could be wrong though as I don't even have a powerbook.

    Powerpacks are auto sensing.
    Warranties ARE worldwide.
The litte powerbrick has a plug in connector that can be swapped for a UK one no problems.

If you buy it in US (as I did) you will be better off leaving the boxes there so it goes unnoticed coming back through customs.

Thanks cocopops. Did you save much money by buying in the states?
