MS Office compatibility?

Greetings,

I'm in the market for a new laptop and I'm tempted to get a power book, especially as it would allow me to use iTunes for my iPod instead of the bloatware that is MusicMatch Jukebox.

Now the question is, is the Mac version of Office compatible with the PC version? Say, if I created a document on the Mac version, would it be readable on the PC version and visa versa?

Office v.X for Mac is fully compatible with the Windows Versions.

Thanks for the info, it's a good thing I'm a student though - £450 for the full version is an outrageous price, IMO.
