    My 15" Aluminium Powerbook

Well, I finally got around to taking some pictures of my Powerbook.

    15.2-inch TFT Display
    1280x854 resolution
    1.25GHz PowerPC G4
    512K L2 cache
    512MB DDR333 SDRAM
    80GB Ultra ATA/100
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 (64MB DDR)
    Backlit keyboard
    Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000)
    FireWire 400 & 800
    AirPort Extreme built-in (802.11g)
    DVI & S-Video out

    So here goes:-

Not sure how they look of if they show the true beauty of the machine, but the alPB's truly are special machines.

I paid $3000 (inc California Sales Tax) for the Powerbook and a Brenthaven BackPack for it which works out that I paid £1700 for the PB after the exchange rate was in my favour.

So I paid only 100 more than the lower spec'd UK one to get a the top spec one.

    Yes I use it everyday.
Safari is a very nice browser, and the in-built ad-popup stopper is a god send
Generally, I've only scratched the surface of what Mac OSX can do. I've not hit a point where I think "damn I can't do that, must go use the PC", I surpised myself there. The File System is very easy to use. Also when you install stuff, it puts it in one place and not like with windows software where there are dll files going here there and everywhere!

The aluminum is not painted but is anodised, so I imagine it is fairly hard wearing, I wear my watch all the time and it hasn't marked the wrist rest part of the laptop (after some 4 and bit weeks now). Where as a friend has a compaq laptop and after 2 weeks his watch was making marks on the wrist rest.

Yes, it has the Superdrive along with the very useful "glowing" keyboard. When it gets dark, the keyboard has a fibre optic back lighting system that shines through the keys

Awaiting my Panther CD, then it will get updated to the latest OS X version (10.3) with all it's new features, such as Exposé and File Vault etc.

hmm it was some what harder than I thought to try and take a photo of the back lit keyboard but hopefully it gives you a good enough impression.

The keys are lazer cut/engraved etc as if I remember correctly from the many Apple Spec pages I read before buying.

Why the hell have you got a power adapter with a white end? My iBook came with one with a silvery end, how...silly! My 'Book is silver inside (ie, when open) so it kinda makes sense, but why the hell would you sell the most desirable laptop in the world with that colour PSU? Just doesn't make sense...
    Well Hello!

The "tip" of the psu lead is a different colour depending on wattage.

The older PSU's output at a higher wattage than the newer white ones.

At the end of the day, I know I have the top of the range laptop without looking at the PSU
