Networking a PC and a MAC (for internet sharing)

Is it possible to network a MAC and a PC and use ICS to get the MAC online, without having a router? (or even with one?)

No router would be involved (we dont have one), just a wireless powerbook networked peer-2-peer (ad-hock) with a wirless card in a PC - then sharing a dial-up connection with a modem in the PC.

I have done it with XP based laptop's this way with no problems, but would not know where to start with a MAC.

And if it is possible, how do we go about it?

I know it's far from ideal, but it's all we have to work with for now. I'm not buying a router as i dont need one normally and this is a one off.

    Thanks yet again mac peps.

well enable ICS on the computer, not forgetting to unblock the powerbooks IP from the firewall on the PC

then go into the system preferences in the powerbook, then go into the sharing options and allow windows sharing (apple - system preferences - sharing)

the powerbook should pick up the open or WEP'd wifi network - as long as its set to discoverable and not hidden

hope that helps - should just work really
