Trouble moving playlists to iPod Shuffle

I bought the 512mb Shuffle from Carphone Warehouse £69 inc £15 iTunes voucher.
I'm very pleased with it however I'm having trouble loading certain playlists.
It will load a random selection from my iTunes library no problem but I can not drag and drop specific playlists onto it. When trying I got the number of tracks and + sign until I place it over the iPod icon then it will not allow them to drop?
It has allowed some such as purchased music but most it will not allow.

    Thanks for any help.

you could try ephpod instead to load music on, i find it a lot easier to use than iTunes.

I've just been looking at the discussions section af the Apple website and found the answer

If iTunes is set to import music from CDs in AIFF or Apple Lossless format, those songs won't be transferred to an iPod shuffle unless they are converted first. The other two iPods will play both of those formats, but they are much larger than AAC or MP3 files for the same amount of music, and therefore fewer of them will fit on an iPod.

If the Shuffle sounds this good through my Etymotic earphones when converted how good would the iPod playing Apple lossless sound?

Probably not very, unless they fixed it with the video ipods have horrendous bottom end.
