Just a quick question.
Has anybody looked at the performance of Panther over Jaguar in real life (rather then just reviews)?
I really like the idea of my work G4 with 10.3 but I want to understand if it is worth the effort of the upgrade?

"John Willis is a toaster that talks! - It knows your name.".
It deffo seems faster on my Powerbook G4 1.25ghz.
I benchmarked with XBench before and after the upgrade.
Before (Jaguar 10.2.8) was 96.*
After (Panther 10.3) was 106.4
So a 10% difference approx, but it is noticable as everything seems snappier to open/run etc
As for Expose..... Hell it's worth upgrading just for that
It runs much the same, mebbe a little faster on my 867 powerbook. Ive noticed things like system prefs and system profiler are much quicker at opening and running tho, and some apps are very quick. All in all, theres some speed difference.
Strarting up also seem s fairbit faster

the other thing you want to do to speed up the response after installing 10.3 is to turn off journeling of the HD...boot to install CD, go to installer menu then open disk utility, select the name of the drive and I believe it is under journeling and disable it...will make things even snappier
