    newb mac questions

basically my other half wants a mac, i know PC's and no very little (ie nothing) about macs.

on the apple site, there are a load of g5's listed, some running 800,900 and 1ghz FSB. these have ddr333, ddr400 and ddr400 memory, respectively, the ddr400 being 200mhz. how does this memory speed relate to the fsb? or does it really not matter, unlike PC's where they are closely related.

i don't think that the FSB speed rekate t the memory speed unlike pcs. All i know is that we have 1.8Ghz G5's at college and they are pritty fast.

The memory speed is very closely linked to the FSB. The memory controller is built into the processor on the G5, and so as the architecture of the chip changes, so does the memory speed. That is why the 1.6 has ddr333, while the others have ddr400.
