Heh - The top of the line 2.3Ghz Core2, 3GB RAM, 200GB HDD looks tasty Under £2k as well ... very tempting although I'm still hoping they might ditch the internal Intel graphics when they update the MacBooks, unlikley tho

    G4 PowerMac - Tiger 10.4 - 512MB RAM
    MacBook - 2Ghz - 1GB RAM - 120GB HDD

It'd be nice, but, I can't really see it happening. Before this refresh, the X1600 graphics vs the GMA950 and screen sizes were really all that made the two lines any different. Only thing I can see happening is maybe upgrading the internal graphics, to an ATI or nvidia integrated one (or even a newer Intel one).

The GMA 950 isn't that bad really - fine for watching dvd's and what not, small screen isn't really ideal for any real gaming

When you have it hooked upto a 2405 it is tho

To be fair it still runs LFS without any issue which is pretty much all I play on PC now (and the only reason I have Windows installed on my mac, lol).

The Mhz these days doesn't matter as much - it's all about immproving performance and getting more from each Mhz than simply having a 5Ghz processor. Not quite sure how they got 36%, but, I'm sure a 3rd-party will run some tests on the new mbp's sooner rather than later and get an unbiased report on how much faster they are.

In your dreams i'm afraid... Apple have been trying to broaden the gap between MB and MBP. This is their chance for there to be proper difference between the consumer and pro notebooks.
Thats to say it will be updated eventually, but not before the MBp has something even better.....

Yeah it will be a while before macbook upgrades..and I thing the graphics won't change. The intel graphics are fine though really - you can run Vista with full aero on it, and in windows the memory limitation is removed so you get a full 256meg with it - and in that mode it can cope with HL2 at just about playable framerates

It's not a gaming laptop anyway - you have the macbook Pro for that
