Apple monitors only work on Apples?

    Hi

I've got a B&W 17" Studio Display that plugs into the VGA out on my B&W G3.

I've just tried this monitor plugged into the VGA out on a new PC and nothing happens. It's like it's not plugged in.

Does anyone know if Apple monitors only work on Apple machines. I know you can use regular monitors on Macs...

The reason I need to know is that I got a barebones PC to use as a PVR and I can't even get as far as installing the operating system.

Thanks for any insight you may have.

    Richard.

I have an Apple Cinema Screen connected to a Radeon 9700 Pro; this is via Apple's dvi - adc convertor.

The only problem with this setup is I cannot view anything is DOS screens or anything that isn't native to XP. For example; when I boot up I cannot see anything on screen until the XP Login screen. Likewise, I cannot see anything when I attempt to go into the BIOS screen.

This is just a problem between the Cinema and the 9700 Pro. My previous card was a Geforce 4400 and that worked fine in all modes.

I just thought it wsa something worth noting.
