"You've gotta laugh when you fall off a sofa!"
I'm sure he was insured for road driving, now whether or not they see him driving at 100 in a 40 zone as not being covered by the policy is another question.
"You've gotta laugh when you fall off a sofa!"
Never mind hundred in a forty, if you were spending 900k on a car youd at least get one that didnt look like a fscking polo harlequin
*wonders why MSN are reporting it was national speed limit road rather than 40?*
Infact that report seems completely mismatched
That's not even english.when it hit a patch of standing water on the B375 near Shepperton. The four-wheel drive Veyron then aquaplaned and crashed nose first into a ditch by the side of the road, but hit a Vauxhall Astra Estate.
You gotta wonder what the editors are doing....
You can see a national speed limit sign on one of the photo's
Still doing 100 on a 60 road in the wet is none too clever
"You've gotta laugh when you fall off a sofa!"
Good spot. What are the sun/bbc doing reporting it's a 40 then?
40 where the car came to rest? That could be the first 60 sign, rather than simply a repeater?
Either way, doing that sorta speed in the wet is equally daft.
the only thing interesting about this story is the car it happen in really isnt it? i mean...
versus

that was a story

oh well, i assure you there are plenty of people doing that kind of speeding in all kinds of cars so dont just blame it on supercar drivers.
yes i do agree there should be some kind of advanced test.
tbh you couldnt be in a better car to be speeding in than that probably ( the best brakes around). but still its always the noob that the car gets lent to that owns it into a wall
wonder when 'genuine veyron bits' will start appearing on ebay...
Nox
i doubt it was even going 100, i reckon it seemed to be going faster than it was because other cars had slowed down due to poor conditions...
EDIT: the veyrons tyres, presumeably something out of the ordinary, perhaps they dont work too well in standing water?

I was thinking about this today- about the fact that the guy driving had apparently hired it for £25k for the day.
If you've spent £25k hiring the fastest production car in the world for one day, are you then going to pootle it around gently for a bit? I'd say, on balance, that's quite unlikely.
£25k is a lot of money. Even if you finished your day with a cruise through Alderley Edge using the Veyron to ferry 10 expensively manicured slappers to your hotel room, you'd still want to spend the day getting the hammer down first. I reckon most of the blame lies with the nutter who thought that hiring the car out would be a good idea.
