Lowe, he's off to pick it up this weekend at Prodrive (where he'll be taught how to drive it too) - the website has a quote along the lines of 'sounds like a scooby should' which made me think 'it's genna sound different somehow'... was it a good drive?

edit: don't answer that, found your original thread

It doesn't have a burble like the old scoobies do. I think it's got an equal length manifold, so the burble is lost. Instead it sounds like a jet fighter. The exhaust is pretty quiet, but the tyre noise and turbo spool was pretty noticeable, especially when you're on foot and it comes past on full chat.

As far as the drive goes, in a straight line it's a bullet, and the shiftlight is always blinking! It's not at all tiring and it inspires a lot of confidence, but perhaps that's a bit of a downfall, cos you get a touch complacent when chucking it into corners, just expecting to come out the other end.

The gearbox was spot on, brakes didn't fade at all (unlike the Legacy which was VERY unsettling after a few laps) and bled the speed off superbly. Despite being 3 up when I was driving it never felt slow and I was very, very impressed.

Ask your father in law to get the Prodrive guys to put the water squirters on the ice surface, and see how he gets on with drifting!

Just if I was going to buy a Scooby, it'd be the saloon, not the estate, same with the RS4, I wouldn't go for the Avant etc.

I must be odd, I find that the impreza in its early forms dull to look at, in fact I would say they are pretty ugly and even the new ones are no lookers.

I suppose it is the 'just crashed through Ripspeed and collected every aero part' look that I don't like, they really aren't subtle enough for me.

Performance is absolutely breathtaking though. No denying that.

They're near Banbury, just off the M40. You can see them from the motorway, in fact, although I wouldnt rely on that to navigate there.

That's the factory. The test track is just by Lemington Spa.

The skid pan is ace, I'd love to take my own car on there for a giggle.

It's a hatchback at best tbh.

I prefer the 'wagon' version tbh as it's a little less in your face and a deal more practical. I often have bad thoughts about buying a scooby but the super-low-rent interiors scupper it for me (as well as the outside looks and hellish mpg).
